NALIP-SA in collaboration with San Anto Cultural Arts is proud to
announce the
documentary screening of WE JAM ECONO - THE STORY OF THE MINUTEMEN at
7PM on Sunday March 26, 2006 at Café Revolution, 527 El Paso St. This
screening is part of the NALIP-SA's 2006 San Antonio Film Series.
Director Tim Irwin be in attendance and will sit for a question and answer
session with the audience after the screening.

WE JAM ECONO - THE STORY OF THE MINUTEMEN is a feature length
documentary
chronicling this ground-breaking, early 80's punk rock band from their
humble beginnings in the harbor town of San Pedro, CA to their untimely
demise when lead singer and guitarist D. Boon was killed in a van
accident in December of 1985.

Told by those who were there (Henry Rollins/Black Flag; J
Mascis/Dinosaur Jr.; Richard Hell/Voidoids; Thurston Moore/Sonic Youth and many
others), WE JAM ECONO - THE STORY OF THE MINUTEMEN weaves together footage
from over fifty newly shot interviews with archival interviews and live
performances to capture the dynamic energy and do-it-yourself spirit of
these punk rock
pioneers.

The screening will open with "Tripa Love", a short film by San Antonio
Filmmaker Ian Tyler Ibarra.

The evening's presentation will also include a musical performance by
Piñata Protest. Piñata Protest is the Westside of SA's latest export,
combining accordion sounds with blistering punk rock and folk melodias.
This young power trio is forging new grounds, musically and culturally
with their hybrid musical style.

DJ Dirty Styles will DJ, spinning the SA classics.

There will also be a sale of original monoprints created through San
Anto Cultural Arts' weekly monoprint workshops.

The "San Antonio Film Series" is a year-long program of screenings and
workshops that will foster independent film in San Antonio. Through
celebrating and including filmmakers and audiences of all backgrounds,
NALIP will promote the authentic, pan-ethnic diversity that is the real
jewel of independent filmmaking. This programming is made possible by The
San Antonio Film Commission, The City of San Antonio Office of Cultural
Affairs and NALAC.

Please join us for an intimate lunch and conversation with documentary
filmmaker Roger Bingham, Monday, March 20th, prior to his book signing
and lecture "Origin of Minds and Emotions", Monday evening at Trinity
Laurie Auditorium.

Who:
Roger Bingham, PhD
Scientist and award-winning PBS filmmaker of:
"The Human Quest" and "The Frontiers of the Mind"
Winner of 7 Los Angeles EMMY awards

"Bingham's last PBS series was the critically acclaimed The Human Quest.
Los Angeles Times' Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Howard Rosenberg wrote
that Bingham "...makes his case vibrantly, creatively and with the
verbal and visual eloquence of someone acutely attuned to television's
potential to synthesize intricate concepts and simplify them...How rare
that the airwaves are used so productively."

What:
Free lecture and lunch sponsored by the Mind Science Foundation and the
San Antonio Film Commission, for members of the local film and TV
industry, especially those interested documentary filmmaking.

Roger Bingam will discuss writing, directing and producing, as well as
show some clips from his critically-acclaimed PBS documentaries.

SanAntonio Film Commission Seeks Film Entries

We are helping to run a short film contest up in Austin in a few weeks,
and are not getting the number of submissions we would like. Take a
look at our site, www.dcitexas.org/mcf. The idea is to get content for
mobile devices, so we are looking for very short films, under 3 minutes.
The winner gets a video ipod!
